Most people have a version of themselves they show the world and a version that shows up when nobody is keeping score. This message is about the gap between those two people, and what it actually takes to close it.

You’ve heard the phrase “trust the process”. Have you heard of Sam Hinky, the analytics genius who took over the Philadelphia 76ers in 2013 and deliberately tanked the team for years in pursuit of a long game nobody else could see? His players booed him. The commentators roasted him. The owners eventually fired him. And yet the process he built quietly produced one of the most dominant players in the NBA. The parallels to faith are hard to miss. Most people bail before the process has a chance to work.

Jesus sends his disciples out on their first real mission with almost nothing in their hands. No bread, no money, no extra shirt. Just a clear directive and complete dependence on something other than their own resources. The instructions sound strange until you understand what Jesus was actually after.
