Michael Ray Garvin <p>Will we be judged by our faith or by our works?</p><p><br></p><p>In the Old Testament faith was not needed for the forgiveness of sins. It was just works by men bringing animals for sacrifice yearly on the day of atonement. These sacrifices were not sufficient enough so the Father sent His Son as a perfect sacrifice for us so it is no longer by animal sacrifices but faith in the Son of God Jesus Christ as payment for our sins. (Hebrews 10:1-21) Many people use Ephesians 2:8-9 and miss the context of what Paul is saying here by not adding verse 10 as well or reading the whole letter. </p><p><br></p><p>8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:</p><p>9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.</p><p>10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.</p><p>Ephesians 2:8-10 KJV</p><p><br></p><p>Paul is saying not by animal sacrifices(works) that we are saved. So that no person can stand before God and say that he or she paid for their own sins. The only sacrifice that is sufficient is the blood of Jesus Christ. He is the door to salvation and He is the grace of God through faith in Him. Now since Jesus Christ is our Lord (Master, Ruler, Owner) we MUST LOVE Him which leads to obedience. Paul says if any person doesn't love the Lord Jesus Christ he is accursed. </p><p><br></p><p>22 If anyone has no love for the Lord, let him be accursed. Our Lord, come!</p><p>1 Corinthians 16:22 ESV</p><p><br></p><p>If we LOVE Jesus we will obey Him.
