It looked like the end, but it was just the beginning. Matthew 27 Jesus was betrayed, tried, crucified, and laid in a tomb. He gave His life for ours.

Jesus shared the Last Supper and gave a new command—to love one another. Luke 22:7–38; John 13 Jesus washed His disciples’ feet, instituted Communion, and prayed in Gethsemane.

Jesus taught in the temple and spoke truth with boldness. Matthew 21:23–24:51 Jesus taught parables, challenged religious leaders, and foretold the destruction of the temple and signs of the end.

Jesus cleansed the temple and cleared the way for true worship. Matthew 21:12–17 What happened: Jesus drove out the money changers from the temple, declaring it should be a house of prayer.

To move forward, we must first acknowledge our situation. Admitting that we are stuck is not a sign of weakness but an act of humility and accountability. It opens the door for God's intervention and allows us to begin the healing process. Once we recognize our need for help, we must trust God and take a step of faith. Trusting God means believing in His plan, even when the path is unclear. It requires us to step out of our comfort zones and embrace the unknown, knowing that God will equip us with everything we need.

Fear and doubt are powerful tools that the enemy uses to keep us immobilized. They whisper lies that we are not capable or worthy, but God tells us otherwise. He has given us the tools to overcome these obstacles, and by putting on the armor of God, we can stand firm against the enemy's attacks. Letting go of fear and doubt makes room for faith and hope, allowing us to move forward with confidence.

In this journey, it's important to remember that we are not alone. God is always with us, guiding and providing for us. He is the way maker, the promise keeper, and the miracle worker. By putting our faith into action, we can get unstuck and step into the life that God has prepared for us. It's time to get off the broken escalator and take a step forward.

Joshua's story teaches us the necessity of embracing pauses in our lives. These pauses are not meant to frustrate us but to prepare us for what lies ahead. Just as Joshua and the Israelites camped by the Jordan for three days, we too must use our waiting periods for preparation, ensuring we are ready for the opportunities God has prepared for us.

We also discussed the importance of mentorship and following God's guidance. Joshua's relationship with Moses exemplifies the value of learning from those who have walked the path before us. God provides direction, even when we feel unworthy or uncertain, reminding us that our past does not disqualify us from His promises.

Taking the first step is crucial. God often requires us to move in faith before He performs a miracle. The Israelites had to step into the Jordan before the waters parted, teaching us that action is often required on our part to see God's promises fulfilled.

Finally, we considered the significance of remembering and testifying. The stones carried from the Jordan served as a memorial for future generations, reminding them of God's faithfulness. Our testimonies of God's work in our lives not only honor Him but also encourage others.

We delved into the importance of producing spiritual fruit, as outlined in Galatians 5:22-23, which lists the fruits of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. These are the markers of a life rooted in Christ. The fig tree's withering after Jesus' curse serves as a stark reminder of the consequences of fruitlessness. It underscores that a lack of spiritual fruit indicates a disconnect from the life-giving source, which is God.

The sermon also emphasized the necessity of remaining connected to God, the true vine, as described in John 15. Our ability to bear fruit is contingent upon our relationship with Him. Without this connection, our efforts are in vain. We are encouraged to engage in self-examination, allowing God to prune areas of our lives that hinder fruitfulness. This process, though sometimes painful, is essential for spiritual growth and effectiveness in our mission to spread the gospel.

Ultimately, the call is to move beyond mere appearances and to cultivate a deep, authentic relationship with Christ that results in tangible spiritual fruit. This is not just for our benefit but for the glory of God and the expansion of His kingdom.

David's story is rich with lessons on how humility before God can transform us into powerful influencers in our society.

We began by acknowledging our need for God's wisdom over our own preconceived notions. This sets the stage for understanding David's influence, which stemmed from his humility and brokenness before God.

David's life offers multiple facets to examine: the shepherd, the warrior, the worshiper, and the king. Each role he played was marked by his deep reliance on God. His humility was evident in his willingness to repent quickly when he failed, his refusal to develop a prideful heart, and his steadfast trust in God's promises over his own plans. David's humility allowed him to influence not just his immediate circle but entire nations and generations.

We delved into three key aspects of humility that made David an influencer. First, he never developed a prideful heart, always giving glory to God. Second, he was quick to repent when he failed, understanding that a humble heart is fertile ground for the Holy Spirit. Third, he trusted in God's promises rather than seeking his own plans, demonstrating a deep faith that God’s grace is sufficient in all circumstances.

We concluded by drawing parallels between David and the Apostle Paul, who also exemplified humility. Paul’s teachings in 2 Corinthians 12:7-9 resonate with David’s life, emphasizing that God's power is made perfect in our weakness. This humility and reliance on God’s grace are what make us capable of influencing others for His kingdom.

We also emphasized the importance of faith, both personal and communal. The paralyzed man's healing was a direct result of the collective faith of his friends. This teaches us that our community and the people we surround ourselves with significantly impact our spiritual journey. Moreover, when Jesus speaks healing and blessings over us, we must receive and believe without doubt. Our testimony of God's work in our lives is crucial for witnessing to others, showing them the transformative power of God's grace.

As we prepare for the new school year, especially our students, we are reminded to stay focused on our relationship with God despite the distractions and challenges we may face. We are called to live a "roofless" life, where our faith knows no bounds, and we are willing to do whatever it takes to get into God's presence and bring others along with us. Let's commit to sharing our testimonies and being bold in our faith, knowing that Jesus is all we need.

We delved into the concept of darkness, both literal and metaphorical, and how it represents the unknown, difficulties, and spiritual negativity. However, the focus was on the transformative power of light, as seen in Genesis 1, where God commands, "Let there be light." This light is not just physical but also spiritual, symbolizing hope, guidance, and the presence of God in our lives.

We are called to be the light of the world, as stated in Matthew 5:14-16. This calling challenges us to let our light shine before others, reflecting God's love and goodness. The message emphasized that being the light involves intentionality in how we speak and treat others, standing firm in our values, and staying close to God's Word. These actions require faith and courage, especially in a world that often feels dark and overwhelming.

The sermon also highlighted the importance of being connected to the power source, which is God, to truly shine as lights in the world. This connection is likened to flipping a light switch, where we have the resources but need to activate them through faith and action. We were encouraged to embrace our identity as children of God, called to bring light into the darkness around us.

In closing, we were reminded of God's faithfulness in guiding us through the darkest moments, as illustrated by various biblical stories. The message concluded with an invitation to respond to God's call, to accept Christ, and to commit to being a light in the world.

Hard ground signifies those who hear the Word but do not understand it, allowing Satan to steal it away. Stony ground represents those who receive the Word with joy but fall away when troubles come because they have no root. Thorny ground describes those who hear the Word but are choked by life's worries and the deceitfulness of riches, making them unfruitful. Finally, good ground represents those who hear, understand, and produce a fruitful harvest.

The parable emphasizes the importance of spiritual growth and discipleship. We must move from being hard or stony ground to becoming good soil that produces fruit. This process involves continuous learning and application of God's Word in our lives. The ultimate goal is to be fruitful disciples who impact others for God's kingdom.

The parable of the laborers teaches us that God's kingdom operates on principles that often defy human logic. The landowner's decision to pay all workers the same wage, regardless of when they started, highlights God's generosity and challenges our sense of fairness. This story is not about salvation or rewards but about the danger of serving God with the wrong motives. We must serve God out of love and trust, not for personal gain or recognition.

We examined the two contrasting stories of the world: one of despair and hopelessness, and the other of redemption and restoration through Christ. The latter, God's story, is the true and beautiful narrative that offers hope and purpose. As we explored various prophecies concerning Israel, we were reminded of God's faithfulness and the imminent return of Christ. The fulfillment of these prophecies underscores the reliability of the Bible and the urgency of being prepared for Christ's return.

Moab, a land born out of Lot's incestuous relationship with his daughters, represents a place of spiritual and moral decay. Despite its allure, it was a land cursed by God, and Elimelech's choice to settle there had dire consequences. His sons married Moabite women, and within a decade, both he and his sons had died, leaving Naomi, his wife, bereft and alone. Yet, even in this dark narrative, we see the glimmers of hope and redemption. Naomi's decision to return to Bethlehem marks the beginning of a journey back to God's provision and blessing.

The story of Ruth, a Moabite woman who chooses to follow Naomi and embrace the God of Israel, is a testament to the power of conversion and the inclusivity of God's love. Ruth's transformation from a pagan background to becoming part of the lineage of the Messiah illustrates that no one is beyond the reach of God's grace. Her story encourages us to remain steadfast in our faith, even when circumstances seem bleak, trusting that God can turn our situations around for His glory.

As we reflect on these themes, we are reminded of the importance of making choices that align with God's will. Our lives are a series of decisions, and each one has the potential to draw us closer to God or lead us away from Him. By choosing to serve God and remain in His will, we position ourselves to receive His blessings and become conduits of His love to those around us.

In Luke 17, Jesus speaks of the end times, drawing parallels between Noah's and Lot's days and our current era. The world then was marked by immorality and violence, much like today, with increasing intolerance and moral decline. Yet, amidst this, there remains a call for righteousness. The sudden removal of righteousness, as seen in the rapture, is a reminder of the urgency to live godly lives. The coming judgment is not just a warning but a call to ensure our hearts are right with God.

We must be vigilant in three areas: truth, morality, and sexuality. The decline in these areas is evident, but we are called to stand firm on the truth of God's Word. The Bible is not to be altered to fit our ideologies; it is the divine standard by which we live. Sexuality, as designed by God, is sacred and should be honored within the bounds of marriage. The world may present various sexual identities and practices, but God's standard remains unchanged.

In these end times, our response should be one of exaltation of Christ over self, submission to God's authority, acceptance of biblical moral standards, and loving others sacrificially. We are to walk by the Spirit, keeping in step with His guidance, and live by the truth of God's Word. As we navigate these challenging times, let us hold onto the joy that comes from knowing Jesus is on His throne and is coming for a church that is ready.
