Well, that's a funny story and The Ranch happened quite by accident and then as do many such things of happenstance, it stuck. One day I was speaking with someone new and trying to explain where Marylin, my wife and I, live. So, we live out in the country. But we have 25 acres so it's not big enough to be a farm and too big to be yard, so in explaining it to this person, I called it a ranch. Well, my executive pastor and friend, Carlton Gerrell was a part of this conversation and when he heard it, having been to "The Ranch" before, he grabbed on to that description and I haven't lived it down yet. So...I thought, let's go with it! Reflexions From the Ranch. Why Reflexions with an "x"? Because when you study the etymology of the word 'reflections' it comes from the Latin word, reflexio, which is according to Dictionary.com, "the act of reflecting, as in casting back a light or heat, mirroring, or giving back or showing an image; the state of being reflected in this way." When we think of God's Word, that is exactly what we do. As we gaze into the Word our true image is cast back to us as we reflect on who we are as compared to who we are seeking to become. Sometimes, we don't really like what we see but it's there nonetheless and we are challenged to deal with the true reflection of ourselves. I’ll have different people joining me on the podcasts from time-to-time. Sometimes I may interview other guests and get their take on different issues and subjects as they relate to God's Word.
